Howdy, kayakers and newcomers!
Wanting to go out beneath the stars, experience the water in a new way, and see how the skies reflect off the water of Willow Springs Lake? It’s a world of difference between day and night, when out on the water, but therein lies the question.
Is it legal to kayak at night?
The legality of kayaking at night is rather straightforward, too. It IS legal to kayak at night, but there is a giant rule that needs to be followed to ensure that you can kayak at night and that’s for everyone’s safety.
In the state of Arizona, the law states: “Manually propelled watercraft (kayak, canoe, SUP) shall carry, ready at hand, a lantern or flashlight showing a white light which shall be exhibited in sufficient time to avert a collision.”
Having navigation lights is a great idea, too, being a red or green bow light and a white stern light, so that other vessels know what your heading is. This helps prevent collisions.
That all said, if you’re hoping to see how the water changes at night, drop in at our rental page, grab a kayak, and see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
Be safe out there and have fun!
